Don't look back! ~ August 28th, 2022

As I was doing my daily internet browsing I came across this picture below and felt how similar to today's times. Instead of people reaching out for God they are retracting from Him. Once again it is becoming a sinful world that we are living in. The picture shows destruction in the rear view and the scripture listed is Luke 17:32. If you read from verse 26 you get a clear view of what God says about when the Son of Man is revealed.
26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
32 Remember Lot's wife.
33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.
Well, once again inspired with a poem. This one titled, "Don't Look Back!"
Don’t Look Back
Time was getting close,
farther from God was a daily thing.
How much longer would the Father wait,
what would His wrath on all those disbelievers bring?
Just like in the days of Noah,
and also with Lot it is true.
God will only wait so long,
before the end of sin is due.
For the sinful nature of man,
began with the devil’s lies,
he told Adam and Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil,
for then it would make them like God, very wise.
Well, today is no different
sin is once again on most peoples hearts.
There is one Hope for all
and Jesus is the start!
So when God ends this sinful world,
with Jesus you’re on the right track.
Remember to not be like Lot’s wife’s,
so please, don’t look back!

As I was looking back at some previous devotionals I thought back on the weekend when I was in the storm. I wish I could say I was rowing, but I will admit I was sitting still saying, "Please let these storm clouds pass!" What I should of done was "pick up the oar (the Bible) and start rowing, for that is the quickest way out from the storm. His disciples had Him with them, we have His Word and the Holy Spirit to interpret it for us.
I was thinking of the hymn "In The Garden", which was one of my mother's favorites. "And He walks with me, (God and I) and He Talks with me, (God and I) and He tells me I am His own! Wow!
I thought of a poem that the Lord blessed me with over 12 years ago as I was sitting in my vehicle having lunch before the God's Love program. I hope it blesses you as it did me;
In The Shadow Of The Cross
In the shadow of the cross,
I stand with hands raised high.
I lift my voice to heaven,
"Praise God is my cry!"
It is in the shadow of the cross,
that I'll always remain free.
It is there I understand,
God's love and purpose for me.
Though I truly don't deserve to be there,
for it is not for what I said or done.
It's because of God's Grace,
and Jesus, His beloved Son.
There is room there for everyone,
for with Christ you can not lose.
God's Word tells us the truth,
all we have to do is choose.

A Charles Stanley's devotional complemented God's poem above. It speaks of purpose that we find God has for us and we praise Him for it. I love when I presented programs for the "God's Love Outreach Ministry" for it gives me an avenue of telling all I meet about God's love and grace. I loved in the bible where Mr. Stanley quoted Isaiah 43:21 says, "The people I formed for Myself will declare My praise." This is what I try to do to the best of my ability throughout the programs and my life now. Mr. Stanley also wrote about "look for daily evidence of His hand on your life." One time when I was visiting a friend of mine who was recovering from open heart surgery and stated how he saw God's hand through his personal ordeal.
May we never be too busy that we don't take time to stop and listen to what God is telling us. Oh, we love the relationship with Him, when we can squeeze Him in. That is not what God calls a relationship.
I love covering this song titled, "In My Garden"! Not my will but Your's Lord!

As I have mentioned in the past I do love the writings of Charles Spurgeon. I saw this and thought it would make for a good Heart blog. My friends, I do believe. It is truly all about "faith" and as it is stated in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 5:7, "For we walk by faith and not by sight"! Now why do you think God said that? I believe because that is how we should live! Yep, He says it, I believe it, that settles it!
Trust Is A Must
Trust is a must to live for today. Without Jesus, there is no other way.
Trust in Him, in all that you do. That is the only way that He will get us through.
Trust is a must, yes, trust in Him. Once we do, life really begins.
Trust, trust with all your might. Only through Him can this life be right!

Trust In Him
The day was dark and dreary, no sunshine was in sight I got down on my knees and said, “God, please make this right!”
I raised my eyes to the Heavens for just a glimpse I might see, I needed to feel at that moment all would be right for me.
Then within the moment, His Spirit to my heart did speak. He said, “The answer is in the Word, there you will find the answers that you seek”.
So I opened up my Bible, and to Philippians 4:6 I did read, “Do not be anxious about anything” is what my eyes did see.
Then I did read further, “in everything by prayer and supplication” is what it said, and “with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God”, see, this is what God was trying to get into my head.
Remember dark days will come, but Son-light there will always be. So don’t worry about anything my friends, trust in Him and His Word, that’s what He was saying to me.

For sure on that day in 1997 I never envisioned what God had planned for my life. I now understand He was always calling and waiting for me to answer His call. Also for me to comply to His wishes I had to return to church and get into His Word that the Holy Spirit would direct my life for God's glory.

See, what it is always about is "HIM"! Yes, He IS God!

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she with silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Interesting when I see this picture below how the Lord blessed me with the poem below the picture. Though it was a year ago I feel not much has changed and the lady is still weeping. Why would she be weeping I thought when I first saw the picture. Well, as each day goes by I feel like weeping with her. America is crumbling slowly before our eyes. As the statement in a movie once said, "You're going the wrong way!" My friends we sure are.
The Lady Wept
So many years she stood on guard
her torch lit the way.
She greeted so many that freedom called,
standing true to it’s cause, but not today.
Today she covered her eyes,
as her silent tears fell to the ground.
Why are all the true Americans just watching
as our beloved country goes tumbling down.
Why are people kneeling down
when our National Anthem is played?
Why are so many cities disgraced,
and many saying, it’s in “justice” name?
Our beloved country is being divided
that once many, “together” lived and died to protect.
Yes, today the Statute of Liberty laid down the torch,
because of what is happening, the lady wept!
Oh God above Who loves us so,
we need a touch of Your almighty hand.
Remove the hate and bitterness all around,
and I pray, You will bless and heal our land.

Well, here I go again! I saw this picture and what followed was being inspired by a poem. As I looked at the picture and read what was written on it I wondered what someone that does not know the Lord would think as they read it. Probably. "I don't understand!" Thus came the poem that followed.
Understanding
Many try to understand the Bible
but without the Holy Spirit impossible that be.
See, He is the teacher of God’s Word,
His job is to explain it to you and me.
Even in the Bible it is written,
for in 1 Corinthians 2:14 you will see,
“But the natural man receiveth not the things
of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness”, yep, there it be!
See, the more I thought about this,
the more sense it made to me.
Everyone will need God, to understand God,
His plan and the Trinity’s job, done perfectly!
So what if someone doesn’t want or understand?
Not a pretty picture in the Bible you will see.
God’s Word explains it very clearly,
“destroyed for lack of knowledge” in Hosea 4:6, it be.
So for me the moral of this poem,
that God wants stated for all to know,
it is about a relationship with Him,
that in the end decides, where we go!

I must admit, for a long time as I would attempt to read God's Word that I would get confused and tried to read it over and over to understand what God was saying to me. Amazing, that after I surrendered my life to Him in 1997, as I read or heard scriptures I slowly began to understand. Not everything mind you but what the Holy Spirit was making known. See, a lot came down to me "wanting" to know so I can know Him better. Also once you can start to understand, with the Holy Spirit's help, then you can, as a "believer", claim what the Word of God promises to you! What a win, win, situation! To God be the Glory!

Well, I believe this is a good heart blog to start off August with. I saw this picture on Facebook and a story of a woman from history. Now I am not sure this is an actual picture of her but it was used with the story below the picture.
and here is her story!
17 year-old Juliane Koepcke was sucked out of an airplane in 1971 after it was struck by a bolt of lightning. She fell 2 miles to the ground, strapped to her seat and survived after she endured 10 days in the Amazon Jungle.
After ten days, she found a boat moored near a shelter, and found the boat's fuel tank still partly full. Koepcke poured the gasoline on her wounds, an action which succeeded in removing the maggots from her arm. Out of 93 passengers and crew, Juliane was the only survivor of the LANSA flight 508 crash that took place December 24th, 1971.
Now after I read her story a poem I was blessed with over 11 years ago came to mind.
Woe Is Me
I woke up this morning and said,
“Woe is me!”
I have a pain in my hand
and one in my knee.
The coffee is taking longer
than I would like.
I bit my tongue,
when from my bagel I did bite.
There is nothing on the TV
for me to see.
It is raining outside,
“Woe is me!”
I looked up toward the Heavens
and then said, “God please tell me why!
How can all this be happening to me,
I am really a nice guy!”
Then I opened an email
from my brother whom I love
and what I got was,
God’s answer from above.
There it was,
on my computer monitor to see,
“Deadly storms struck again”,
How dare I say,
“Woe is me!”

I always remember the quote:
"I cried for I had no shoes till I saw someone without any feet!"
For sure nowadays there are a lot of people having a lot worse day that I am having or possible could have. All I can say is I am blessed, and I don't take any of it for granted. I also thank God and understand He is going through the good and the bad with me. He always gets the glory!
See, "Even If", things do not go well, God is always with me and in control. Yes, it is well with my soul!
